| Research Interests |
My main research interests centre around literary and philosophical aesthetics, with special reference to 18th-19th century German culture. I have published extensively on authors such as G.W.F. Hegel, F.W.J. Schelling, F. Schiller, F. Schlegel, K.W.F. Solger, L. Tieck. Over the last few years, I have developed a further strand of research focussing on philosophy of ageing and humanistic gerontology, Since 2012 I regularly cooperate with the “Zentrum für Gerontologie” of the University of Zurich. In 2013-2014 I spent a sabbatical year at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin as invited scholar, working on a project on “Aging and the Experience of Time”. I’m currently preparing a commented edition of K.W.F. Solger’s Vorlesungen über Ästhetik, to appear in the series “Philosophische Bibliothek” published by Meiner Verlag, Hamburg. |
